Man rushed to John Hunter Hospital after being stabbed at Broadmeadow railway station
A man has been rushed to hospital and another charged with wounding after an alleged stabbing at the busy train station.

One man is in custody and a second man has been rushed to hospital following an alleged stabbing attack near Broadmeadow train station.
Emergency services were called to the station about 10.15am after reports a 28-year-old man had suffered a stab wound to his abdomen, police said in a statement.
“He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he’s reported to be in a stable condition,” the statement said.
“Officers from Police Transport Command responded, deploying OC spray to effect the arrest of a second man, 25, outside the station.
“That man has been taken to Mater Hospital where he remains under police guard.
“A crime scene has been established by officers from Newcastle City Police District and an investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
The 25-year-old man was later discharged from hospital late yesterday and taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, resist police in the execution of their duty and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today, Saturday, April 15.
