A Hamilton man had beef with a couple of friends and made a vicious threat saying “how do you feel about f**king dying”, before a massive brawl broke out and he stole their car.

On the evening of August 18 last year, Kevin James Cox, 27, turned up at a Mayfield unit with another mate and let himself in, before receiving a phonecall from Elijah Cage, who arrived a few seconds later with a woman, according to police facts.

Sensing “something was not right”, one of the residents took the keys to the car and hung them around his neck, before police allege Cage came back from the bathroom and without warning attempted to punch the man in the head.

“You f**king dog you told on me and Kevin,” he yelled according to police facts.

From then on, it erupted into a massive brawl, where both residents were punched numerous times.

“How do you feel about f**king dying?” Cox yelled at the woman as stated in court documents.

It wasn’t long until the car keys were ripped from the man’s neck and Cox got into the woman’s car and sped away.

During that, police allege Cage stole a bum bag and cannabis and continued to fight with the man before fleeing in a vehicle parked nearby.

It wasn’t until January, when Cox served a sentence of imprisonment for an unrelated matter, that he was approached by police about the fight and later charged.

In Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday, Cox appeared via video link where he pleaded guilty to robbery in company and will head to the District Court in February next year for a sentence date.

Three other charges of robbery armed with an offensive weapon, affray and aggravated enter dwelling armed had been withdrawn.

Cage has not made any pleas in relation to his alleged involvement in the fight and will appear in court next month on those matters.

It also comes after Cox was recently sentenced in October for a number of driving offences and charges of dishonestly obtaining property by deception.

Court documents revealed he drove off from several service stations at Wallsend and Tomago without paying for fuel and his license was cancelled at the time.

He was sentenced to eight months jail with a non-parole period of four months and disqualified from holding a driver’s license for 12 months.
