A man accused of fatally stabbing another man at the front door of his Lake Macquarie home on Good Friday last year has denied the allegations and will face trial.
Jacob Bell, living at the Aquarius Motel on the Pacific Highway at Belmont South at the time, was charged with murder after police allege he stabbed 40-year-old Eddy Lemalama in the chest at his Windale home on March 29 last year.
Emergency services were called to the Kankool Way home at about 4:30pm before they rushed the 40-year-old to hospital with multiple stab wounds, where he later died.
At Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday, Bell appeared via video link as he pleaded not guilty to the charge and will be arraigned in Sydney’s Supreme Court next month.
Bell is also facing two counts of aggravated break and enter to commit a serious indictable offence, a charge of sexually touching another person without their consent and stalking and intimidation.
The latter charges relate to allegations Bell broke into a woman’s home in Windale nine hours before the alleged murder, intimidated her and stole something before he kissed her on the face.
No pleas have yet been made in those charges.
They have also been adjourned for two weeks.
