A woman accused of being uncooperative following a string of suburban shootings and an intense standoff with police will be kept behind bars.

Mum-of-two Shakira Lee O’Connor, 22, fronted Toronto Local Court on Tuesday and made a bid for bail after it’s alleged she concealed information from police about three public place shootings in Lake Macquarie and Maitland.

Police facts said officers were patrolling near a Burley St premise in Tenambit, east of Maitland, on Monday in relation to a white Mazda CX5 in the area that was linked to shots being fired there about 9:35pm on Sunday – more than five hours after a shotgun was allegedly fired out of a moving vehicle in Toronto, in western Lake Macquarie.

The court heard that was when officers heard another gunshot ring out.

It was then, the court also heard, that O’Connor left the address and jumped into a Mazda CX5 before police started to follow the vehicle for the next hour until it arrived at a Coal Point residence.

Specialist officers from the tactical operations unit surrounded the property for two hours before O’Connor was arrested alongside 26-year-old Brandon Rogan.

The court heard the 22-year-old woman was questioned in relation to the shootings and continued to deny any knowledge of the alleged incidents.

Police facts said officers located the shotgun in the Mazda, as well as female jewellery which matched other jewellery O’Connor was wearing.

A further search of the Tenambit home also located a stolen Kia Carnival in the backyard which had allegedly been used in a police pursuit days earlier.

O’Connor was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence and goods in custody.

Magistrate Peter Barnett said in court on Tuesday that O’Connor was being treated as a witness but she “refuses to tell them anything”.

Already on an intensive correction order (ICO) and with numerous breaches of bail on her record, Mr Barnett was not convinced there were any conditions to mitigate risk if she were released.

“Appears to be a strong prosecution case,” he said.

He refused bail with the matter to return on May 20.

Rogan is accused of pulling the trigger in all three shootings.

The 26-year-old came to the attention of police late on Sunday when they were alerted to a video by the member of the public.

The footage allegedly shows a man firing a shot from the window of a moving car while driving through Toronto.

He has been charged with 11 offences including three counts of firing a firearm in or near a public place, taking and driving a conveyance without consent of owner, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing ammunition without holding a license, using a prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order, acquiring ammunition subject to a prohibition order, driving a motor vehicle during disqualification period, and driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.

Rogan faced Toronto Local Court on Monday where he was sent to a mental health facility for assessment.

He fronted Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday and was refused bail, with his matter adjourned until May 21.
