A woman helped hide a car used in the murder of New Zealand firefighter Ian Pullen and attempted to deflect investigators’ attention away from her friend, accused killer Joshua Knight, police allege.

Ivy-Jean Ward, 27, was granted strict conditional bail when she faced Singleton Local Court on Thursday charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Strike Force Awabakil detectives arrested Ward at a Singleton home on Wednesday, two days after another woman, Lilli-Jane Kaye Sales, 21, was arrested on the same charge.

Detectives will allege both women helped hide the vehicle and attempted to deflect police as they investigated Mr Pullen’s death.

The New Zealand pilot and father, 43, had just arrived in Australia to help fight the bushfires when he was allegedly hit by a car as he walked along a Singleton street before dawn on September 29, 2018.

Police allege Knight, 29, and Nicole Mason, 30, were among at least three people who returned to the scene in the vehicle a few minutes after Mr Pullen was critically injured.

Knight and Mason are alleged to have bashed Mr Pullen to death.

They were both charged in October with murder. Neither have indicated a plea.

Ward was granted conditional bail in Singleton Local Court on Thursday.

The conditions include a curfew between 8pm and 8am, abstain from alcohol and drugs and enter into a security to forfeit $1000 if she fails to comply.

She is also facing a charge of doing an act intending to pervert the course of justice – a charge which is not related to Mr Pullen’s murder.

She will reappear at Singleton on January 28.
