A well-known Hunter Valley businessman will be sentenced next year after admitting to using hidden cameras to spy on underage girls and women.
The man, aged in his 50s who cannot be identified for legal reasons, had his matter briefly mentioned in Newcastle District Court on Thursday.
He had been committed to the court for sentence after pleading guilty in Newcastle Local Court last month to 26 offences, including 15 counts of intentionally record an intimate image without consent and 11 counts of filing a person in a private act without consent.
The charges relate to nine victims – three underage girls, five known women and one unknown victim.
Court documents stated the acts dated back from August 2019 until September 3 2023 and occurred at four different locations within the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens and Newcastle.
It was also revealed the man filmed intimate images of a former colleague.
The man was arrested in September last year following an investigation by detectives into the discovery of several images and videos.
The matter was briefly mentioned on Thursday where Judge Peter McGrath set a sentence date of February 26 next year.
The hearing is expected to take an hour.
The man remains behind bars on remand.
