A Windale man has denied he attacked a woman, by pushing her into her own car as she left work, and sexually assaulting her at Islington before he was chased away by a passer-by.

A Windale man has denied sexually assaulting a woman as she tried to get into her car on a busy Newcastle road after work one night.
David John Greentree, 48, was charged with aggravated sexual assault inflict grievous bodily harm after police allege he attacked the 23-year-old woman on Maitland Rd at Islington at around 10.30pm on December 10, last year.
She was bundled into her own car where police allege she was sexually assaulted by Greentree, before a passer-by intervened and chased him away.
Child abuse and sex crimes squad detectives joined Newcastle City investigators to investigate the attack which led them to a Sandgate business three days later.
Greentree was arrested and taken to Waratah police station where he was later charged.
In Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday Greentree appeared via video link where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
He has been committed for trial in Newcastle’s District Court and will be arraigned on September 29.
The court heard there will be no witnesses to give evidence in the hearing. He remains in custody.
