Detectives investigating the shooting up of a Hunter home by a gang of gunmen have quietly made an arrest as their hunt for more suspects continues.
Brian Maynard, 25, was taken into custody in Jesmond on December 22 by investigators probing the public place shooting at Tenambit on October 16.
Strike Force Pamela detectives allege a group of men used an adjoining footpath to access the front yard of a Goldingham St home about 6.45am.
Inside were two men and one of the men’s girlfriends – Tenambit woman Maddison Hickson who was to begin a NSW Supreme Court trial the following day after being charged with the murder of her father, Michael Carroll.
A jury would find Ms Hickson, who admitted stabbing her father in self-defence, not guilty of murder.
Police released CCTV of the alleged gunmen walking down the public footpath and opening fire into the front yard of the home.
Ms Hickson and the two men were not injured during the shooting before Port Stephens-Hunter detectives established Strike Force Pamela to investigate the incident.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives swooped on Maynard at a Jesmond address on December 22 before performing search warrants on the premises and a nearby storage facility.
Maynard was charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling/house with disregard for safety.
He faced Magistrate John Chicken in Newcastle Local Court where he did not apply for bail and was formally remanded in custody.
Maynard will next appear in Maitland Local Court on March 1.
Investigations into the shooting continue.
