Four current and former St Joseph’s College students will be heading to The Netherlands later this year to represent Australia at the World Junior Rowing Championships.
Jack O’Brien, Marcus Britt, Lochie Miles and Lewis Willoughby will be joined by Sydney Grammar School’s Ollie Schwartz in August to compete in the Junior Men’s Under 19 Coxed Four division.
It is an amazing achievement for the boys considering they only began competing together as a group in January.
Led by coach Sarah Cook and Sydney University Boat Club coach Dustyn Butler, they dominated the national rowing championships and selection trials to book their tickets to Rotterdam.

Ollie’s mum Louisa says that despite their tremendous achievement, the boys aren’t taking the opportunity for granted.
“They’ve been training their little hearts out since they qualified in June,” she said.
“A couple of them are also juggling their HSC, so they’ve also had to squeeze studying in between school and rowing.”
