Pennant Hills Under-14s cricket win ends 40-year drought

PENNANT Hills' Under-14s cricketers are premiers for the first time in 40 years after beating Kenthurst Redfield XI.

PENNANT Hills' Under-14s cricketers are premiers for the first time in 40 years.

They beat an undefeated Kenthurst Redfield XI in the grand final of their competition at Headen Park, Thornleigh, last Sunday this being the same Kenthurst XI who bowled out West Pennant Hills' White for two earlier in the season.

Kenthurst started well, despite a heavy outfield, and raced to 33 before paceman Jonathon Cheng struck. He finished with figures of 2-4 and was ably supported by Jack Leggott's 2-3 in dismissing Kenthurst for 95. Leg spinner Rahul Krishna took 2-14. Penno found the going tough in reply and fell to 3-15, then 5-35, but Leggott guided the side home, smoking a boundary to bring up the victory, and an unbeaten 46 for himself.

Two Pennant Hills senior sides are in the finals of the Sydney Shires competition, with the second grade side having scraped in despite a heavy loss to Auburn.

Forth grade thumped Auburn, chasing down 181 to secure its first finals berth.
