READY, set ... take off.
The Hills is poised to offer access to Gymnastics Australia's new fundamental movement program, Launchpad.
On January 22-24, Castle Hill RSL Gymnastics will become one of the first clubs in NSW to introduce the national program which aims at encouraging children to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.
Gymnastics NSW youth participation co-ordinator Jessie Tulett was looking forward to the club's launch and the opportunities it would provide for the Hills community.
"Launchpad will allow children to attain skills that will assist in everyday life through teaching basic body and object management skills," Tulett said.
At the program launch late last year, Sports Minister Kate Lundy recognised gymnastics as a "key sport for young Australians".
"Launchpad is about giving our kids a strong foundation to support participation in sport for life," she said.
Castle Hill RSL Gymnastics manager Jane Cooke has accredited Launchpad coaches ready to take children through an introduction to the program these holidays for an hour each morning at a nominal cost of $10 a class.
With the Launchpad "stamp of approval", the club has been recognised for running quality gymnastics and movement programs for children that are fun, inclusive and meaningful, in a positive and encouraging environment.
