Eastwood Ryde Netball club selected for Premier League-style competition
NORTHERN DISTRICT TIMES: Club will be competing as ERNA Hawks for the Netball NSW Premier League competition
The Eastwood Ryde Netball Association has announced that it will be competing in the inaugural Netball NSW Premier League Netball competition.
Competing under the name ERNA Hawks, Eastwood Ryde will be one of eight franchises in the competition which is set to commence on Monday April 18 at Sydney Olympic Park’s Netball Central.
ERNA President Anne Doring says that the club is excited to be taking part in this Australian-first competition.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be involved in this exciting new competition, which will provide a local and elite platform for players, coaches and team officials within the game,” she said.
According to Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club’s General Manager Chris McCarthy, the club’s sponsorship is a perfect fit.
“We’ve been supporters of the East Ryde Hawks for 20+ years. They approached us and we agreed it was a good community fit,” he said.
The NNSWPL competition was established in order to attract the best current and emerging talent within NSW and also offer a local, elite platform for players, coaches, officials and administrators prior to the higher Australian Netball League and ANZ Championship competitions.
All NNSWPL games will be streamed live and free via a partnership with Hunter-based company BarTV Sports.
The NNSWPL will be contested across Open and Under 20s divisions with a pre-season tournament commencing Wednesday March 2 with the Grand Final currently penned for the week of Monday August 22.
ERNA will be launching their Premier League season at Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club on Thursday February 25.
