Yagoona man Fadie Kodat charged with armed robbery over alleged service station hold up

A man who allegedly robbed an inner west service station at gunpoint on New Year’s Eve will remain behind bars on remand over the alleged hold up.

A man, who police allege held up an inner west service station in the early hours of New Year’s Eve while armed with a replica gun, will remain behind bars on remand.

Fadie Kodat, 28, of Yagoona appeared at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday via video-link, charged with one count of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, two counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol, two counts of not keeping a firearm safely, and two counts of possessing an unregistered firearm. He has enter to enter any pleas.

Police will allege Kodat entered the Haberfield 7/11 service station, located on the busy Parramatta Rd, at about 2am on December 31 before brandishing a black Glock.

It is then alleged Kodat used the firearm to threaten the store’s worker, demanding cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot.

Police allege Kodat made off with $200 in cash and two packets of Winfield Gold cigarettes.

Police launched an investigation and arrested Kodat at an address in Guildford on Tuesday.

A search warrant carried out at the property allegedly uncovered two replica pistols being a M1991 US Colt and black Glock, along with other items relevant to the police investigation which were seized for forensic examination.

On Wednesday, a defence lawyer told the court Kodat, who appeared briefly via video link, would not be applying for bail.

He will remain in custody and will next reappear at Burwood Local Court on March 20.
