Man delays train services by running on Canterbury station tracks

Trains at Canterbury station were stopped twice this morning after a man was seen running on the tracks, impacting services on the Bankstown and Airport lines for some time.

Trains at Canterbury station were stopped twice this morning while police searched for a man seen running on the tracks, impacting services on the Bankstown and Airport lines.

A police spokesman told the Express they had to close the station from 10.15am, after being informed of the male on the tracks.

A spokesman for Sydney Trains said they expected zero impact on the afternoon peak services after the disruptions.

“Some trains may be slightly late but we expect no impact on afternoon peak services,” he said.

“We were informed that there was a male running on the tracks around 10.15am,” the police spokesman said.

“We are still trying to find the individual but the station is now open again.”

The police officers were aided by Polair and the dog patrols.

A spokeswoman for the Traffic Management said there were two interruptions to the services for 15 minutes each time.

“The Bankstown and the Airport lines were affected and some delays are to be expected,” she said.

“We advice passengers to allow extra times on these lines along with the south line.”
