Southwest Sydney police catch up with 84 outstanding warrants in a week
A social media posting blitz and door knocking on 430 homes have led to southwest Sydney police arresting 84 people on outstanding warrants, dating as far back as 2003.

A man has handed himself in to police for an alleged aggravated kidnapping offence after a week-long social media and door knocking blitz by southwest Sydney police.
The 30-year old walked into Auburn Police Station on March 16 after his image was shared widely on Facebook as part of Operation Persistence. He was refused bail at Burwood Local Court, and was scheduled to appear again on May 18.
Southwest Sydney police arrested a total of 84 people on outstanding warrants after door knocking on 430 homes, and sharing images and details of the wanted individuals on social media, as part of Operation Persistence.
Operation Persistence caught up with alleged criminals dating as far back as 2003, with the warrants relating to armed robbery, kidnapping, domestic violence, traffic, arson, break and enter, drug supply, assault police and firearms offences.
That also includes Sala Pe’a, 38, who was wanted for an alleged armed robbery of a Lakemba service station in 2003, and had avoided arrest for almost two decades after leaving the state.
He was extradited from Queensland to NSW following an arrest in Coomera by Queensland Police on March 15.
A 29-year old man wanted for allegedly assaulting police was arrested outside of Bankstown Police Station while livestreaming himself on March 18, and taken into Bankstown Local Court later that day. He was granted conditional bail, and will reappear at Bankstown Local Court on April 21.
From the 89 warrants issued and followed up on, 84 people were found and arrested, including eight individuals that handed themselves in.
Police are still seeking information on five more individuals that are wanted for arrest.
That includes Caupolican ‘Poli’ Montoya, 31, wanted by virtue of outstanding arrest warrants in relation to aggravated robbery. Police describe him as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 160cm to 165cm tall, medium build, with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Timtaous Komi, aged 27, is wanted by virtue of outstanding arrest warrants in relation to sexual assault offences, and is described by police as being of African appearance, about 175cm to 185cm tall, of medium build, with black hair and black eyes.
Police say he is believed to frequent the St Marys, Telopea and Penrith areas.
Lovedeep Brar, aged 33, is wanted by virtue of outstanding arrest warrants in relation to aggravated sexual assault. He is described by police as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, about 175cm to 180cm tall, of medium build, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police say Mr Brar is known to frequent Granville.
Cem Koray Yavuz, aged 49, is wanted by virtue of outstanding arrest warrants in relation to aggravated sexual assault.
He is described as being of Mediterranean / Middle Eastern appearance, about 160cm to 170cm tall, of thin build, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police say Mr Yavuz is believed to frequent Burwood and Enfield.
Christopher Stockman, aged 28, is wanted by virtue of outstanding arrest warrants in relation to stalking and sexual assault offences.
He is described as being of caucasian appearance, about 170cm to 175cm tall, of thin build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Christopher is believed to frequent the Camden and Ingleburn areas.
Operation Commander, Detective Superintendent Simon Glasser said the arrests were helped by the community contacting police.
“I would like to thank the public for supporting our appeal and coming forward with information,” Det Supt Glasser said.
“No matter how insignificant you may think the information is, it may be the piece that leads to an arrest.
“We will continue to target those outstanding people wanted on arrest warrants, with proactive policing at all times of the day and night.”
