Police are searching for a young man who attacked and robbed an older man of his wallet at an ATM in Lakemba

Campsie Police Area Command said around 9.45pm on Monday, a 53-year-old man was using a ATM on Haldon St when he was approached by a man who grabbed his hand.

Police said during the struggle, the older man fell to the ground, along with his wallet.

Campsie Police Crime Manager Detective Inspector Paul Albury told the Express that people using ATMS should always be aware of their surroundings “because when people withdraw or put in money into these machines, there exists an opportunity to commit crime”.

“The community are our eyes and ears,” he said.

“If you are concerned of anyone around you, notify us immediately as we have officers patrolling the area and can get them to move on.”
