Ryan O’Hara: Man accused of fraud allegedly gambled $9 million at The Star
A man charged with a mountain of fraud offences allegedly gambled over $9.5 million from the proceeds of his crimes at The Star casino.

A man allegedly gambled more than $9 million at The Star casino in Sydney after defrauding millions of dollars through luxury car loans, according to police allegations.
Ryan O’Hara, 37, who also goes by the name Christian Nassar, pleaded not guilty to 205 charges during a lengthy arraignment in the NSW District Court this week.
O’Hara is accused of taking part in a large-scale fraud syndicate between 2015 and 2019 which involved his allegedly dishonestly taking out about 90 loans totalling millions of dollars using fraudulent information.
According to court documents, those loans were allegedly used to purchase about 100 luxury cars including makes such as Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW and Lexus.
Police allege the expensive vehicles were allegedly sold on.
One of his charges also relates to O’Hara allegedly gambling $9,592,867.80 at The Star casino in Sydney between July 2015 and September 2017, with the money allegedly coming from the proceeds of crime.
O’Hara was one of five people arrested and charged following a police investigation into alleged large-scale fraud.
O’Hara, who remains in custody on remand, allegedly injured a police officer during a wild arrest attempt in September 2018 by driving a car into the officer. He was eventually arrested in Greenacre in April 2019.
He has been charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm over the September 2018 incident.
O’Hara was previously charged with 600 serious offences but the NSW District Court refused to arraign him on 600 counts which would take well over a day. About 400 charges have been dismissed.
O’Hara is set to face a lengthy trial in February 2022.
