Commuters are a step closer to convenient parking options at Revesby train station with planning now underway to deliver nearly 400 additional spots.

Under the plans, 385 new parking spaces will be made available at the station in a bid to ease road congestion and provide easier access to public transport.

The existing multistorey parking facility will be extended with two new storeys on the west and three new storeys on the east side.

The two existing lifts will also be extended to service the new levels.

Up to eight spaces will be accessible parking spots and the station will also be upgraded with new CCTV, lighting and wayfinding as well as solar panels on the rooftop level.

Construction is expected to begin early next year, subject to planning approval, with works to be completed by early 2022.

As reported by The Express last year, the $19 million election commitment will boost parking at the station to more than 1200 car spaces.

East Hills state Liberal MP Wendy Lindsay said the upgrade will provide more access to parking.

“The (State Government’s) Commuter Car Park program is designed to make it easier for customers who need to drive part of their journey to access public transport hubs and will be welcomed by the people in my electorate of East Hills,” Ms Lindsay said.

“This project will not only provide more access to parking for the community but employ dozens of people per day in a range of fields including engineering, construction and administration roles.”
