Revesby pursuit ends in crash: PolAir, Highway patrol chase down alleged thieves

Two men have been arrested after two dramatic police chases through the streets of southwest Sydney, involving PolAir, Raptor Squad and the Police Dog Squad.

A dramatic police pursuit in Sydney’s southwest involving officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol, PolAir, the Police Doq Squad and Raptor Squad has led to the arrest of two men who allegedly committed stealing offences.

About 11.30am, police attempted to stop a black Ford Fiesta on Iluka St, Revesby, which instead drove away. Police started pursuing the car but stopped the chase a short time later due to safety concerns.

The car was later found abandoned at the back of a licensed premises on Anderson Ave, Panania.

At the same time the car was found, police were attempting to stop a black Mazda on Marco Ave, Panania. A pursuit was initiated which ended when the car crashed at the intersection of River Rd and Sphinx Ave, Revesby.

The 38-year-old driver fled on foot and was followed by PolAir before being arrested at Treatt Ave, Revesby.

About the same time a 26-year-old man – believed to be the driver involved in the first pursuit – was arrested at an address on Condon Ave, Panania.

Both men were taken to Bankstown police station where charges are expected.

Revesby residents have been recently rocked by a public assassination in their quiet suburb, and police had promised to increase their presence in the area to alleviate community concerns.

Two women, Lametta Fadlallah and Amy Hazouri, were shot on August 13 as they sat in a car on Hendy Ave, before the car was driven to Weston St where they were found by police and paramedics.
