A NEW performance exploring storytelling centred around the night sky will draw on Bankstown’s diverse cultures.
Bankstown Arts Centre will unveil aptly titled theatre performance Night Sky on Thursday, November 24.
Arts centre director Vandana Ram said while the area had a diverse spectrum of cultures and upbringings, the project showed everyone was connected through storytelling.
“For example, we’ve had members from the Chinese community come in and make lanterns representing stories of the Moon Festival,” she said. “Memories of candle processions for Greek Easter and harvesting grapes in Lebanon by the light of the moon are also represented.”
Night Sky involved more than 100 people from the centre, community groups and residents sharing their stories, dreams, experiences, music and fairytales during a series of workshops.
The performances are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm.
