Innovative fitness programs are being offered at the new UFC Gym at Flinders Centre Bankstown, which officially opens its doors on Saturday, June 29.
The grand opening will be from 8.30am-5pm on level 2, Flinders Centre Bankstown, and is a free event. Flinders Centre is owned by Bankstown Sports, one of the most successful and largest clubs in Australia. The gym has, however, been operating since last August.
UFC Gym Bankstown will be hosting an MMA masterclass with Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski on Thursday, June 27, and a boxing masterclass with Billy ‘The Kid’ Dib on Friday, June 28.
“This gym is different to traditional ones because it is an one-stop gym,” UFC Gym manager George Barkho said.
“We have mixed martial arts training and people of all fitness levels can take part in our programs.
“There are plenty of gyms around the Bankstown area but none that offer the variety of training UFC Gym does.”
Barkho, who has more than 25 years in the fitness industry, said this is one of many UFC Gyms in Australia.
“Our facility has already created a positive impact on the local community in which welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels as their family gym,” he said.
“Our conditioning classes include things like boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai as the discipline, but you aren’t necessarily learning to fight, you are just using the different moves to get fit.
“The gym’s explosive workout environment uses cutting-edge training techniques inspired by UFC athletes and provides members with everything needed for the entire family to sweat, move, live and train different.
“We also run all of our classes for kids as well as adults.
“No other gym in the world offers this type of fitness programming for children aged five years and up.
“Here at the UFC GYM we embrace the fighting spirit in everyone.
“We all fight for something in life, whether you’re going through adversity in life, or wanting to achieve a specific goal, we will help bring out the fighting spirit in you.”
The gym can provide innovative and effective fitness experiences so members can train differently by fusing mixed martial arts with state-of-the-art equipment, group classes, elite coaching and tailored personal training.
Opening day attractions include wrestling and Muay Thai demonstrations while visitors can sample products from Nutrition Station, Monster, Basement Brewhouse, San Churro and Muscle Meals Direct, and grab a showbag.
The Kids Olympics will be held at 8.30am and there will be entertainment, face painting, games, raffles and plenty of giveaways.
