Man charged over indecent assault of six-year-old Lakemba boy

A man has been charged with indecently assaulting a six-year-old Lakemba boy, who was known to him.

A man has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a young boy in Lakemba.

The State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad last month began an investigation following reports a boy had been indecently assaulted by a man known to him when he was at a home at Lakemba.

Following extensive investigations, detectives from the squad arrested a 29-year-old man at Campsie Police Station about 9am on Thursday.

He was charged with the indecent assault of a person under 16 years.

Police will allege in court the man indecently assaulted the boy — then aged six — between December 2013 and January 2014.

The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is made up of specially trained detectives who investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
