A man will face court today after the alleged armed robbery of a man at an ATM in Bankstown last week.
The victim, identified only as “Jim”, withdrew $500 from an ATM on Greenfield Pde, Bankstown at 10.50pm on November 1.
He was walking away when a man approached him, hit him in the face and took the money.
Bystanders gave chase but were unable to apprehend the offender.
“I was in the sports club, and I walked up to the ATM to take out some money,” Jim said.
“I put the card in my pocket and I still had my money in my hand — that’s when he hit me in the face.”
Detectives from Bankstown LAC conducted inquiries and ultimately arrested a 28-year-old man at his Greenacre home this morning.
He was taken to Bankstown police station and charged with alleged aggravated robbery.
He was also charged with allegedly contravening an unrelated apprehended violence order.
The man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
