Detectives assumed the online identity of a girl in June and allege Jeremy Brown made several sexually explicit comments.
Arrangements were allegedly made for a meeting to take place in the Riverwood area.
On Thursday morning, police arrested 33-year-old Brown at Riverwood.
He was taken to St George Police Station, where he was charged with seven counts of using a carriage service to send indecent material to a person under 16.
The man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
He was subsequently refused bail after concerns he would commit a serious offence and endanger the safety of alleged victims or the community.
He is next due to face Sydney Local Court on August 27.
Detectives under Strike Force Trawler charged Brown.
