The daughter of Syrian and Brazilian parents is showcasing 20 outfits from her streetwear label GTAB range in the Raffles International Showcase at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2018.

To make her life even more crazier, Ms Tabbouch is also working on her debut album as a rapper, called 2200, after the Bankstown postcode.

“GTAB is a label of the people, what you see is what’s within you,” Ms Tabbouch said.

“It’s the different facets of a human race. It’s the rapper, the designer, the actor.

“It’s your inner child dreaming, and your inner hustler making sure you accomplish your goals.

“It’s the person willing to fight and stand up for what they believe in.

“It’s your ability to see past the surface and delve inside the inner working of humanity.

“I’m putting Bankstown and it’s closet of secrets on the map. I’m here and I’m confronting, and this is why my designs hold importance.”

“I get to inspire people by sharing my story and the story of others with the world.

“It’s time their voices are heard, and fashion week is the ideal creative platform to express this as it allows you can wear what you feel and send a strong message to the world without opening your mouth.

“In regard to music, I’ve always written raps, that’s how I express my emotions and retell my stories.

“Rap is my personal diary although I am very new to sharing those raps vocally

“Music, specifically rap, and lyrics create a powerful synergy when combined with design.

“One is vocal and the other is visual. You can hear and see my message at the same time.

“I want to speak about the inner child going for their dreams, the inner struggle to hustle and making ends meet despite the circumstances you’ve been born in.”

The 2016 Virgin Australia’s Young Designer Award winner says there are hidden messages on the lining on her garments with lyrics from her rap music.

“I had a rough upbringing. I’ve witnessed first-hand, the struggles and the issues of the western Sydney world,” Ms Larrouch said.

“Things can no longer go unheard and unsaid.

“I want to voice these strong issues, to stand up for something in hopes to create change.

“It’s not good enough to just hear things and pity the struggles.

“It’s time to support each other and help within our means.

“I just choose to do that via what I’m good at and it’s writing and designing.

“This way I can reach the youth in a way that’s not preachy.

“I would love to have the support of artists within the hip hop industry.

“To have them wear my clothing to create noise around the messages behind my label.

“To create change and make everyone kinder and more understanding of one another once they hear the stories.

“I’d love to be able to go on tour and tell those stories via my rap and have the youth support and wear GTAB.

“In a way we are all activists, standing up for what’s important and I think it starts with understanding. It’s time the youth are heard.”
