Charcoal chicken icon El Jannah has plans for a new drive-through store in Bankstown, currently before council for approval.
It would be a return to Bankstown for Sydney’s most successful Lebanese charcoal chicken franchise, which opened its second store in Punchbowl shortly after its first, in Granville.
The development application reveals the franchise would replace the existing Oporto and Subway stores at 9-49 Chapel Rd. The plan is to collapse the two restaurants into one El Jannah store, complete with outdoor and indoor seating alongside the drive thru pick up.
It would follow from the franchises’ first drive-through El Jannah in Sydney on Smithfield Rd/Cumberland Highway.
The company recently announced plans for a Baulkham Hills store, set to open in March, followed by the opening of its first two stores in Melbourne, bringing some of western Sydney’s best garlic sauce to a new audience.
Like the planned Bankstown store, both the Melbourne sites will feature a drive-through.
