El Jannah chicken shop to open at Baulkham Hills in March
It will be a battle of the birds when a cult charcoal chicken chain opens its first northwest Sydney franchise right next to a fast food giant selling the fried variety.

Much loved charcoal chicken chain El Jannah is finally coming to northwest Sydney, with a dine-in and takeaway eatery to open at Baulkham Hills in late March.
The shop will serve its signature garlic sauce and blistered chicken at 351 Windsor Rd, where it will occupy the former La Bionda restaurant — right next to the KFC.
It’s an addition that is to delight Hills foodies, including Amanda Mowbray, who said El Jannah’s debut would give that other legendary chicken business — Frangos Portuguese — at Bella Vista “a run for its money”.
“It’s about time,’’ she said.
“I prefer it to Frangos, you’re either one of the other.
“I prefer their garlic sauce. If ever I get sick I get it and smash it.’’
The business manager and food lover, who runs hills-foodie Instagram account, says the food scene in The Hills was improving.
“It’s such a good thing there’s so much more variety,’’ she said.
El Jannah chief executive officer Brett Houldin said the Baulkham Hills shop was a taste of what was to come for the company this year.
”We are delighted to open an El Jannah store in the Baulkham Hills area,’’ he said.
“It was an addition that felt quite natural to us, and the locals are already voicing their excitement to get their hands on our legendary charcoal chicken.’’
Foodies have much to get excited about in the Hills.
After Covid delays, Meat & Wine Co opened at Baulkham Hills in January, taking advantage of its lakeside location at Solent Circuit alongside Ribs & Burgers and Italian Street Kitchen.
The Baulkham Hills El Jannah will be the chain’s 13th franchise, with branches at Gregory Hills and Liverpool opening last year. The business made its debut in 1998 when the flagship Granville and Punchbowl eateries opened.
