David Haddad held up five businesses from the Hunter to Wiley Park

A tradie accused of a crime spree spanning from the Hunter to Western Sydney allegedly warned an employee the ‘boys out back will come guns blazing’ if they refused to hand over $10,000 cash.

A scaffolder accused of an armed night-time crime spree from the Hunter Valley to Western Sydney allegedly warned an employee the ‘boys out back will come guns blazing’ if they refused to hand over $10,000 cash.

David Haddad, 28, allegedly held up five pubs from Branxton to Lakemba, where police claim he demanded money, sometimes threatening staff, before fleeing the scene.

The Wiley Park man was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with six offences including two counts of robbery, driving while suspended and robbery with an offensive weapon.

Documents tendered to court state Haddad’s alleged streak of robberies started at 5:30pm on January 8, when he allegedly demanded $10,000 from a staff member at the Huntlee Tavern in Ramsgate.

Police will allege Haddad showed an employee a note on his phone that said: “Give me all the money in the till do not make a scene or the boys out back will come guns blazing they have forced me to do this”.

“They don’t know that I wrote this but if I don’t go out to them with at least 10k I get kneecapped. I promise I’lI return the money in the next two weeks,” Police facts state.

The note also urged the employee to “don’t call the police” and said Haddad would tell the employee “who they are and will turn them in”, the facts state.

The tradie attempted to rob the Intersection Tavern at Ramsgate while armed with “an object concealed under a white towel” before driving to the Beverly Hills hotel and stole an opened packet of black and white Manchester branded cigarettes.

Twenty minutes later in Lakemba, he allegedly demanded money from an employee at the Lakemba Hotel but left empty-handed.

According to the facts he made his final stop of the night and allegedly stole $1,100 cash from the Wiley Park Hotel 30 minutes later and threatened staff with a screwdriver before he drove off in a white ute.

Haddad’s lawyer Mostafa Daoudie appeared on behalf of his client at Bankstown Local Court on January 10 and made no application for bail.

Magistrate Shane Mcanulty adjourned the matter for reply on March 13.
