A CARPARK cafe in Bankstown has become the most western front for The Grounds coffee in Sydney.

Manfoush Bakery opened one month ago on the roof of Bankstown Central and is bringing a slice of the trendy inner city eatery to the southwest.

The venture was taken on by neighbours and friends of more than 20 years, Emad Said, 33, and Helal Sakr, 28 who decided last year to “have a crack” in the foodie industry.

The pair said getting The Grounds on board was a hard sell, but once the company saw their vision, they were happy to hand over their popular beans.

From the outside, looking in — it’s easy to see why.

The space is decorated with pretty pastel green and pinks — The Grounds signature colours — along with white washed timber tables and gold-look cutlery.

But it’s the food, in particular the Lebanese pizza, that people seem to return for and the boys claim they have the “best manoosh in the west”.

“We love this food, and we wanted to make it more modern and more interesting,” Mr Sakr said.

“In Lakemba, you get manoosh in a box and slip slop slap, see you later. We wanted to step it up a bit and give people somewhere nice to enjoy it.”

“You’ll want to eat your fingers later,” Mr Said said.

Diners can choose their toppings as they please, but one of the most popular combinations is oregano and vegetables with yoghurt. There are also tartlets and cakes from The Grounds.

Manfoush has just started catering and are capitalising on their unorthodox location — offering a kind of drive through service on the side.

“Call us when you’re here and we’ll come out and deliver your order to you,” Mr Said said. The cafe is open 9am until 5pm all week except Thursday, when the closing time is 9pm.
