Banktown Airport: Entertainment Park ready to welcome families

The opening date for an exciting new entertainment centre - where people can ride go-karts, play bowling or maybe even get a haircut - can be revealed.

State-of-the-art go-karts will be among the main attractions at the new Entertainment Park.

Whizz around in go-karts, roll over some bowling pins, enjoy the fast-paced racing cars simulators and top it off with a hair cut as planes fly overhead.

That’s the vision for the multi-million-dollar Entertainment Park set to open by mid-March at Bankstown Airport.

The centre is fast taking shape at an 7500sq m warehouse earlier used by Boeing, will include a 3500 sqm go-kart track, six lanes of ten-pin bowling, virtual reality, racing car simulators, traditional arcade games, party shop, cafe and barber shop.

John Papantoniou, who is behind Canterbury Banktown’s first entertainment park, had planned to open the centre first by November and then before Christmas.

However, delays across various fronts put back both plans with the new date now set for mid-March.

“We are very excited about the Entertainment Park because there is nothing like this in the inner west or southwest Sydney,” Mr Papantoniou said.

BARBER SHOP

He said he thought of having a barber shop so while the fathers could have their hair cut, their children could be entertained in a safe environment.

“It takes around one to two hours to get your hair cut at a salon so I thought this way, while the dad has his hair groomed, his children can get to play,” Mr Papantoniou said.

“The Entertainment Park is a unique family venue.”

Canterbury Bankstown Chamber of Commerce chief executive Wally Mehanna said the centre would be a boon to western Sydney because of its many attractions and facilities.

“The centre is being well received with residents and businesses looking forward to its opening,” Mr Mehana said. “There is nothing like this in the area.”

The centre, which can host children’s parties and corporate events, is expected to employ more than 20 local staff when fully operational.

The centre timings are expected to be 10am-10pm throughout the week.
