Bankstown woman recognised alleged stalker’s car from 2016 incident

A 40-YEAR-OLD male has been arrested and charged after allegedly following a woman from her work place in Bankstown twice within a week.

A 40-YEAR-OLD male has been arrested and charged after allegedly following a woman from her work place in Bankstown on Wednesday, February 15 and Monday, February 18.

The woman told Bankstown Police she remembered the man from the vehicle he drove from a similar incident in 2016 when he allegedly followed her home.

The woman reported the incidents to the police who arrested the man on Tuesday, February 19. He was charged with stalk/intimidate, intend fear physical and three counts of harm (personal). He was refused bail until April 3.

BASS HILL/FAIRFIELD: A Bass Hill man, who wanted to purchase a mobile phone, was allegedly robbed of his money at gunpoint by the intended seller from Fairfield last week. Bankstown Police said on February 18, a 34-year-old Fairfield man had met the man at an address on Cann St, Bass Hill, to sell a phone. Police said the buyer entered the Fairfield man’s vehicle and handed over the agreed amount of money in exchange for the phone. However, police allege the man then produced a handgun and told the buyer to get out of his vehicle without handing over the phone. The Fairfield man was later arrested in Hercules St, Fairfield, and charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon and driving motor vehicle during disqualification period. He is to appear before Bankstown Local Court on April 17.

CAMPSIE: A teenager, who allegedly robbed a male using a flick knife, has been arrested after a chase and charged. About 10.50pm Saturday, February 23, a man was walking near the intersection of Amy and Dewar streets, Campsie when he felt someone pulling onto his bag. Upon turning around, he told police he saw a 16-year-old male and another young person standing behind him. The 16-year-old is alleged to have produced a flick knife in his right hand. The man handed over his bag and then the two people left. Police were swiftly on the scene and sighted the teenager at Thorncraft Pde. He was chased on foot before being arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery, goods in custody and possess a disguise with intent.

YAGOONA: A 28-year-old Yagoona man, who had been evicted and banned from visiting a local hotel, allegedly returned to the venue the same night and threw two molotov cocktails at the rear of the hotel. Bankstown Police said on Saturday, February 16, at 1am, the male was told to leave the hotel. Police allege at 2am, he returned and threw two molotov cocktails at the rear entrance of the Yagoona hotel before fleeing. The man was arrested by police at his home on Tuesday, February 19, and charged with damaging property by fire. He is to appear before Bankstown Local Court on March 6.

BELMORE: Campsie Police were informed of the prohibited import and seizure by Australian Border Force and AFP of 400g of heroin concealed in a parcel from Malaysia.

About 2.45pm on February, 20, a 38-year-old from Belmore was identified alleging attempting to accept delivery of the box consignment. He was arrested by police. A search of a van nearby allegedly located 70 laptop computers. He was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with the offences of attempt to possess marketable quantity of unlawful import border control drug (400 grams of heroin) and goods in custody (laptops).

BANKSTOWN: A man, who had been banned from entering Bankstown Central on January 8, was arrested after allegedly flouting the ban on several occasions. Police said the 39-year-old Bankstown male allegedly visited the shopping centre on January 31 and February 14, 16 and 17 but left before police arrived. The 39-year-old man was arrested by Bankstown Public Transport Command when he visited Bankstown Central on February 18. He was charged with five counts of enter inclosed land without lawful excuse.

BANKSTOWN: No one was hurt when a mobile van was engulfed in flames at a garage in Bankstown city on Monday, February 18. Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Bankstown, Revesby and Chester Hill attended the blaze on Meredith St, Bankstown, just after 1.30pm. A spokeswoman for FRNSW said the vehicle was well alight when the crews arrived and it took a while to get the fire under control. “There were no occupants in the vehicle,” the spokeswoman said.

YAGOONA: Police are appealing for the occupants of a Yagoona home, destroyed by fire last Friday, to contact them. About 4.40am emergency services were called a house on Cantrell St after reports of a fire. The house was well alight at the time emergency services arrived.
