One of Australia’s big supermarket chains has plans to move into a growing suburb in Sydney’s south, providing the essentials closer to home for local residents.
Barden Ridge residents received a letterbox drop from Woolworths this week flagging plans for a Woolworths Metro at 152 Old Illawarra Rd, Barden Ridge.
The supermarket stated it is now preparing a development application for the proposed store.
“The proposed Metro store will be designed to meet the needs of Barden Ridge residents,” the letter states.
“It will be around one third of the size of Woolworths Menai Marketplace, providing for local shopping close to home.”
The supermarket is running two online community information sessions to discuss the proposal and for residents to provide their views on the plans.
Woolworths hopes to submit the development application to Sutherland Shire Council in coming weeks.
“There will be a short presentation about the proposal, followed by a Q&A session,” the letter states.
The first session will run on Saturday, October 24 from 3pm to 4pm, and another session will run on Tuesday, October 27 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
