A woman charged with dealing ice while on parole for killing a man was still being treated for drug addiction after more than three years in jail.

Taylor Angell, 23, was jailed in 2015 after she ran down Cronulla lawyer Marc Leabeater on his motorcycle and killed him while she was high on ice.

Police withdrew one charge of prohibited drug possession against Angell when it was determined Angell was legally in possession of a buprenorphine, a prescription drug used to treat addiction.

Officers charged Angell on August 24 last year after they found her with the tablet in Sutherland before the charge was withdrawn when her solicitor proved she was permitted to have it.

Angell remains behind bars on separate charges.

However, Angell remains behind bars charged with dealing $15,000 worth of ice and possessing the proceeds of crime after she was allegedly found barely conscious in a car in January.

Angell had been on parole for less than six months after serving three years and three months for Mr Leabeater’s death when she was allegedly found with a pale pink handbag containing 29.12g of methamphetamine, $1026.45 in cash and digital scales.

Magistrate Jayeann Carney refused Angell’s bail application on January 17 and the case will return to Sutherland Local Court on March 18.

“If on-sold, the estimated street value (of the drugs) is $15,000,” Ms Carney read from the police facts.

Police allege they found Angell asleep in the front seat of a running car.

Police allege Angell was asleep in the front seat of a blue Ford Laser in Caringbah before she woke up and began to “ramble, making no sense”.

Officers said Angell appeared to be drug-affected, as her pupils were dilated and she was “gnawing on her bottom lip”.

A Corrective Services spokeswoman said Angell was required to be of good behaviour, not commit any offences and adapt to normal lawful community life upon her release from prison.

“Taylor Angell, 23, was released to parole on July 24 2018 at the expiry of her non-parole period,” the spokeswoman said in November last year.

“In making its decision to release the offender to parole, the State Parole Authority took into account a Community Corrections report, the judge’s sentencing remarks and the offender’s criminal history.”

Angell will also face a hearing on May 6 after she pleaded not guilty to possessing a stolen iPhone in a separate incident.
