What’s even more frightening is that several of those behind the attacks are still at large. Here are 19 of the most violent and horrifying incidentspolice are still trying to get to the bottom of.
SHOTS FIRED AS LITTLE GIRLS SLEPT
Police labelled a targeted shooting at an Arncliffe home where two little girls were asleep a “disgrace” as they continue to hunt the people involved.
At 2am on December 27 an unknown person fired several shots from the driver’s window of a white Mercedes AMG into a Wollongong Rd home in Arncliffe, where members of the Jomaa family reside.
Two little girls aged two and three and two adults were inside sleeping at the time.
“This is ridiculous behaviour, it is absolutely unacceptable,” Detective Superintendent Tony Cooke from St George police
“It’s an absolute disgrace.”
Detectives believe the incidents are targeted and possibly linked to two separate public place shootings in Riverwood and Revesby in recent weeks.
Investigations are continuing.
STRIKE FORCE BARLYN – BEXLEY
Police investigating two men who shot up a suburban Sydney home in a brazen daylight attack have said “it’s only a matter of time” until they find the pair responsible for the “abhorrent” act.
Two men in a Holden Commodore VT pulled up on Kingsland Rd, Bexley near the intersection with Stoney Creek Rd on January 13 at 6am before one fired two shots from a long arm into the home.
The bullets shattered the windows and embedded themselves in the home’s inner walls but neither of the male or female middle-aged occupants were injured.
TERRIFYING HANDGUN RAID
Three hooded men armed with handguns stormed a Bass Hill home and terrified a couple and their young child by firing a volley of shots about 11.30pm on Saturday, June 22 last year.
The trio then fled in a stolen getaway car, with dramatic CCTV footage of the horror inside the Sevenoaks Cres address recently released by police.
The men left the scene in a stolen white Audi RS Q3, which was later set alight on Jacaranda Ave, Georges Hall.
Strike Force Vicky was established by detectives from Bankstown Police Area Command to investigate the shooting. No one has been charged in relation to the incident.
SEFTON SHOOTING
A 23-year-old man had an incredible near miss in October last year, with a bullet shot through a second-storey bedroom window grazing his neck before lodging itself in a cupboard.
The public shooting on Helen St, Sefton took place about 2am on October 20 last year.
After the man’s close call, a car was heard outside the property before a second shot was fired. A number of other people were also inside the home at the time of the shooting.

A suburban home in Gregory Hills was shot at about 1am on April 1, with Camden Police Area Command currently investigating the incident.

Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
HARRINGTON PARK SHOOTING
It remains a mystery to authorities how a 39-year-old man, who turned up to Liverpool Hospital nursing a gunshot wound to the arm, was ultimately shot in August last year.
About 11.40pm on August 14, gunshots were reported on Doohan Cres, Harrington Park, with police swiftly canvassing the area.
About 30 minutes later, an injured man nursing a gunshot wound arrived at hospital. No one has been charged in relation to how he was shot.
At the time of the incident, police believed the occupants of a white Volkswagen Golf sedan seen in the area about the time of the shooting could help with the investigation.
CHRISTMAS EVE BULLETS
Two men, armed with firearms, stormed a family-filled Fairfield West home on Christmas Eve last year which saw a single shot fired.
The pair threatened a 59-year-old male occupant at the Thorney Rd address. The front door was soon slammed shut and a shot was heard as the two men left the scene.
The occupant’s wife, his two sons and their partners were inside the home at the time. No one was injured.
A shell casing was seized by Fairfield police shortly after. No charges have yet been laid.
GREENACRE HOME SHOT
A Greenacre property was shot at about 10.15pm on December 1 last year, with police at the time suspecting the violence was targeted.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene following the incident.
No charges have been laid.
BULLET HOLES FOUND IN LIVERPOOL HOUSE
Bullet holes were found on a house on Monteclair Ave, Liverpool, about 8am on January 31, with a crime scene established by officers from Liverpool Police Area Command.
When police first discovered the bullet holes, it was believed the shooting likely took place the night before.
Police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
LONE GUNMAN INJURES TWO MEN
Two men were injured after a shooting inside an Liverpool unit complex on Alderson Ave, about 2am on September 3 last year.
Police, at the time of the incident, were treating the crime as targeted and believed a lone gunman was behind the attack.
Officers arrived at the scene to find only some damaged windows, but shortly afterwards two men, aged 26 and 33, presented at Liverpool Hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police said at the time the two victims had “extensive criminal histories”.
No charges have yet been laid.
LUCKY ESCAPE AS FAMILY TARGETED
Two women and a baby boy were inside a home when a gunman opened fire at a Wentworthville home on May 15, 2019.
The women, aged 23 and 39, and a 10-month-old boy all escaped injury when bullets were fired at the Dunmore St property at 8.35pm when shots were fired into the window, lounge room and bedroom.
Police seized several projectiles from the front of the home and took them away for forensic testing.
No arrests have been made.
SHOTS FIRED FROM SUV
About 2am on Monday, September 9, emergency services were called to a property in Lockwood St at Merrylands after reports shots had been fired from a passing car, about
12.45am the same day.
No one was injured. Cumberland detectives started the investigation into the incident and released CCTV vision of a dark SUV in January.
“Unfortunately the vehicle was never identified and there was no person charged,’’ Cumberland Acting Inspector Andrew Mackay said.
Investigators are still keen to speak with the driver, who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
JAE TREGEAR IN DRIVE-BY SHOOTING
Jae Tregear — who has suspected bikie links — was injured in a drive-by shooting at Barber Ave, Penrith, on November 7.
At court in February, he was fighting charges of supplying 499.67 grams of methylamphetamine at the same address and on the same day he was shot.
He suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen, arms, and legs, and was taken to Nepean Hospital.
No one has been charged in relation to the shooting.
Tregear’s bail was continued for the drug charges.
MIRACLE ON ETTALONG ST
It is a miracle a family of six – including a baby – was not killed in crossfire when a volley of shots sprayed a car and house at Auburn on January 9.
Those were the words from Auburn Detective Inspector Chris Laird, who told reporters more than 20 bullets were fired at the 4WD and house at Ettalong St after a man in a white, late model BMW drove next to another man’s car and opened fire before 8.30am.
Insp Laird said the shots fired at the car were targeted but the house occupants were innocent people.
“The people home at the time … were narrowly missed by the projectiles as they went through the house and that’s why it’s a shocking crime,” he said.
“The number of shots fired today went into the house and it’s a miracle no one was killed or injured today.
“At the end of the day one of the mothers was so shocked she had to go to hospital, which is understandable.”
No charges have been laid.
HUNT FOR AN AUDI
A 26-year-old man was shot in the leg during a drive by shooting at Lomond St, Guildford West, on January 29 at 10.10pm.
Police believe it was a targeted attack and said the shooter left in a white Audi R8.
Paramedics treated the man at the home before rushing him under police guard to Westmead Hospital.
His left leg was heavily bandaged from the wound and he was reportedly breathing and conscious.
The shirtless man with black hair and a beard was seen being loaded into an ambulance by paramedics following the shooting.
The Audi getaway car was later dumped and set on fire more than five kilometres away at Merrylands Park on Burnett St in Merrylands.
Police recovered the torched vehicle about 3am after it had been destroyed.
‘A LOT OF PEOPLE DON’T SHOOT VERY WELL’
Price St is no stranger to gunfire.
It is the location of the Ibrahim family home, where the mother of nightclub boss John, jailed bikie Sam and drug-runner Michael lives.
But most recently, on March 25, a bullet hole punctured a side window of a different house. But police dismissed that it was a targeted shooting.
Cumberland Inspector Brad Peters said the projectile landed in the wrong spot when it hit the double-storey home.
“Investigations up to this point would lead us to believe the home has not been targeted so the theory is that the bullet may have ricochet from somewhere else or fired randomly at another location,’’ he said.
“And it’s just flown through the area until it’s gone down.
“A lot of these people don’t shoot very well. They don’t have a lot of skill.”
The shooter remains at-large.
SUNRISE FIRE
A 38-year-old man was shot at Marian St, near Bursill St, Guildford, just before 6am on Friday, April 10.
Cumberland police are investigating the incident after the man was shot in his right thigh.
ABANDONED CAR CLUE
A 31-year-old woman cheated serious injuries when she was shot in the chest and arm on Saturday, April 18 about 6.45pm. An abandoned car formed the centre of a crime scene at Caroline St, Westmead, near the hospital where the woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries and is in a stable condition.
“Right now, we currently have been unable to identify those involved but that’s an active inquest and we’re still tyring to ascertain those involved and who’s responsible,’’ Insp Mackay said.
