A Sydney mother was allegedly high on ice when police claim she went on a wild rampage through a Sutherland car park and attacked a police officer with secateurs.
Police have charged Courtney Bell, 38, with driving under the influence of ice as well as possessing 2.2g of ice and 0.56g of cannabis when she allegedly slammed into several cars and a police truck on September 13 last year.
Police allege Bell drove a white Mitsubishi Pajero into the Eton St car park in the late afternoon before speeding up and crashing into several parked vehicles.
At one point police say Bell rammed a parked hatchback and pushed it several metres while the driver was seated in the vehicle.
A senior constable then required four stitches after Bell allegedly slashed him with the large gardening scissors in an attempt to avoid arrest.
Bell, who has been on remand since the alleged incident, is yet to enter a plea to two counts of predatory driving, one count of using an offensive weapon to avoid arrest, one charge of assaulting police causing actual bodily harm, one count of drug driving and two counts of drug possession.
The day after the alleged incident Bell’s solicitor had described her as “intoxicated” and “agitated”.
“The mental health nurse has said she is suffering a form of intoxication”, a Legal Aid solicitor told Magistrate Glenn Walsh at Sutherland Local Court.
“She is very agitated but she feels safe where she is and it would be cruel to ask her to come to the dock.”
She is due to face Central Local Court again via audiovisual link on February 17.
