A Sydney drug dealer barely out of her teens concealed cocaine in a James Bond-style secret compartment in her car as she drove around doing deals.

Police said Ivy Huang’s phone was running hot when they pulled her over for running a red light in Hurstville on October 25 last year.

“Police located two actuator switches which, when activated together, revealed a concealed compartment behind the CD player on the centre console,” the agreed police facts stated.

“Concealed in this hidden apartment were eight small clear resealable bags containing a white powder believed to be cocaine.”

Huang, 20, pleaded guilty to supplying five grams of cocaine and dealing with the proceeds of crime after police also found $715.50 in cash inside her car – a Mazda, not an Aston Martin.

The cocaine concealment was worthy of a James Bond film.

Magistrate Les Mabbutt sentenced Huang to a supervised two-year community corrections order that forbids her from taking illegal drugs, 200 hours of community service and a $2500 fine.

A conviction was recorded as Huang had previously received a non-conviction for drug possession at Bankstown Local Court in August 2017.

“Like many, many people who have been given an opportunity to go through life without a criminal conviction, she would have been told it was a wake-up call and many people never come back to court,” Mr Mabbutt said.

“But she did come back, and it’s a large amount over the indictable quantity (of drugs) in a hidden compartment in a motor vehicle.”

Huang told the court in a letter she sees her criminal charges as a “blessing”.

“Getting charged has helped me gain insight and understanding on the impact that my behaviour at that time had on the community,” Huang wrote.

“Getting arrested allowed me to open my mind and ask myself questions … why am I doing this, what impact did it have on my life and everyone in it, and is this the person I want to be for the rest of my life?”

Mr Mabbutt also warned Huang a future mistake could result in imprisonment.

“Turn up (to your supervisor) with a dirty sample, and the only option is a jail sentence,” Mr Mabbutt said.
