A former NRL cheerleader charged with fraudulently claiming a $30,000 insurance payout has had her bail conditions suspended so she can go on a six-week international jaunt.

A former NRL cheerleader charged with fraudulently claiming a $30,000 insurance payout has had her bail conditions suspended so she can go on a six-week international jaunt.

Regan Yerbury and her mother Karen Yerbury, a NSW Police senior sergeant, have been charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage after they allegedly made a fraudulent insurance claim between May 2017 and April 2018.

Police allege Yerbury, 23, received a settlement cost of $30,571.17 from car insurance agency Eric Insurance Limited as a result of the fraudulent claim.

Yerbury has had to report to Sutherland police every Wednesday since she was arrested at her Engadine home on November 13.

However, Yerbury’s reporting condition will be suspended between December 29 and February 10 while she takes a pre-planned overseas holiday.

“(She is taking) a pre-booked trip to America, Mexico, Portugal, Morocco, Dubai and Indonesia,” her solicitor George Constantine wrote to the court.

Yerbury applied for the bail variation through her solicitor before Magistrate Glenn Bartley at Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday ahead of her previously scheduled January 10 court date, which falls during her holiday.

Yerbury’s father guaranteed a $10,000 surety to ensure his daughter’s return to Australia after the trip.

The Director of Public Prosecutions has now taken over the case and a reply of brief is now due on February 15.

Yerbury’s mother has also been charged with misconduct in public office in relation to the alleged fraud, while a 48-year-old male associate was charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage, participating in a criminal group and driving while disqualified.

Regan Yerbury recently graduated from a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Wollongong and was once a cheerleader for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs rugby league team.

“Just wanna say to everyone that Rome wasn’t built in a day and that good things take time,” she said in an Instagram post after she graduated.

Yerbury was a Bulldogs cheerleader from 2013 to 2016.

“Thank you to everyone who made my time at the club as amazing as it was, especially all the girls, I’ll miss you all,” she wrote on Instagram in September 2016 with the hashtag #proudtobeabulldog.

In 2018 Yerbury was a top nine finalist in the Maxim’s Finest Australia modelling contest and competed at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in the 100m, 200m and 400m sprints when she was in high school.

Six days after she was arrested and charged, she posted a selfie to Instagram saying the previous week was “super shitty”.

“I realised I should be grateful for things, like the fact my even shittier bangs have finally grown out,” she added.
