A dance studio and a gym could be demolished and replaced with an 11-storey unit block incorporating residential and serviced apartments in the heart of a southern Sydney town centre.
Georges River Council has received a development application for an 11-storey tower at 206-212 Railway Pde in the Kogarah town centre worth almost $18.6 million.
The proposed development includes 47 residential apartments, 11 service apartments, a rooftop communal open space, ground floor commercial space and basement parking for 86 cars.
“The site’s redevelopment will complete the renewal of the block bounded by Railway Pde, Bowns Rd and Blake St,” the developer stated.
“The provision of residential apartments in a location well serviced by public transport and within walking distance to jobs, is consistent with the Greater Sydney Region Plan objective of creating a 30-minute city.”
The proposed development is a short walk from Kogarah and Carlton railway stations, St George Hospital and St George TAFE.
“The commercial space will activate the corner, promoting pedestrian activity and create a place of interest,” the developer stated.
The proposal includes a combination of serviced apartments, one-bedroom units, two-bedroom units, and three-bedroom units.
