Police are seeking three men who assaulted a man and stole his phone after randomly throwing an object full of liquid at his car in Sydney’s south.

A woman was driving a Mercedes on Caringbah Rd in Caringbah at 4.30pm on Tuesday when police believe an object full of liquid was thrown at the back of her car.

Her 55-year-old male passenger got out of the Mercedes at the intersection of Willarong Rd and attempted to take photos of the vehicle stopped behind when the three men got out of their vehicle.

The men covered their white Renault van’s number plates before confronting the passenger, assaulted him, threatened him and took his mobile phone.

Police are now seeking the three men, who are described only as being of a large build and wearing high-vis clothing.

Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command have commenced an investigation and anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
