Matthew Worth: Raver in court with David Coffey on drug charges

A rave enthusiast who was allegedly supplying party drugs across Sydney with his mates has faced court after strike force detectives swooped on the alleged syndicate, making 10 arrests.

A rave enthusiast who was allegedly supplying party drugs in a syndicate with his mates will remain behind bars after he was arrested by strike force detectives at a suburban Sydney shopping centre.

Matthew Worth, 25, appeared at Sutherland Local Court from Silverwater Jail charged with three counts of indictable prohibited drug supply related to 52.5g of MDMA, 153g of GBL and 0.016g of acid he allegedly dealt between August 2019 and March 2020.

The Berala man was also charged with possessing the property proceeds of crime after they allegedly found him in possession of $820 cash during his arrest at a Menai shopping centre.

His Legal Aid solicitor told Magistrate Michael Connell the Director of Public Prosecutions had elected to proceed against him in the District Court and the case was adjourned to March 30.

Police allege Worth and his friends James Calleja, Madyson Brooks, David Coffey, Lucy Kelly and Alex Rainbow were part of a significant drug supply syndicate pushing festival drugs all over Sydney for several months.

Worth is one of four who remains behind bars after police netted the group of mates in a series of raids at homes across Sydney.

Calleja, 34, was refused bail at Campbelltown Local Court after he was charged with directing the syndicate and selling drugs on several occasions.

The Bonnyrigg man had allegedly agreed to sell six vials of LSD for $6000 at Ikea Tempe the day before the raids, and had also allegedly supplied MDMA on several occasions at Campbelltown Mall.

Leumeah woman Madyson Brooks, 23, was also formally refused bail at Campbelltown Local Court after she was charged with supplying MDMA.

Campsie DJ William Koster, was charged with supplying 9.7g of acid in February, 2.3g of the drug in January and 6.9g in November last year, which are all considered not less than a commercial quantity of the drug.

He will apply for bail at Burwood Local Court on March 18.

Three of the alleged syndicate members have been granted bail ahead of their next court dates, including the son of a Sydney lawyer who is now confined to house arrest.

Coffey, 27, was granted bail after his father put up a $75,000 security for his release at Burwood Local Court on March 11.

Police allege the pizza delivery driver drove Calleja around to his various drug deals.

He will return to court in April and will not be able to leave the house for anything except chaperoned court dates and medical appointments.

Lucy Kelly, 21, was arrested at an Oakville home and charged with participating in a criminal drug supply group and four counts of indictable prohibited drug supply.

She was granted police bail to face Windsor Local Court for the first time on March 26.

Alex Rainbow, 24, was also granted police bail to face Hornsby Local Court on March 25 after they were charged with prohibited drug supply and participating in a criminal group.
