A woman who killed a man in an ice-fuelled car crash has been charged with driving disqualified, leaving the scene of a crash and negligent driving only weeks after she was released from jail for a second time for dealing ice while on parole.

Taylor Angell, 25, was first jailed in 2015 after she smashed her car into young gun lawyer Marc Leabeater’s motorbike in Caringbah in December 2014 and tragically killed him.

Less than six months after she was granted parole for Mr Leabeater’s death in July 2018, Angell was jailed for another 12 months for supplying $15,000 worth of methylamphetamine.

She was released with time served in April 2020, but just 12 weeks later Angell is back behind bars on remand charged with negligent driving, fleeing the scene of a crash, driving disqualified twice and using fake number plates in Kirrawee on June 1.

Police will allege the driving offences occurred while Angell was still on parole under her five year, five month head sentence for killing Mr Leabeater.

Police refused Angell’s bail on July 11 before she faced Downing Centre Local Court on Monday when a COVID-19 scare shut down Sutherland Local Court on Monday.

She is yet to enter a plea and will return to Sutherland Local Court on July 28.

Angell was only 18 years old when she was convicted of aggravated dangerous driving causing death over Mr Leabeater’s tragic death in 2014.

The court heard Angell, who now lives in Bankstown, was driving high on ice on Taren Point Rd on December 29, 2014 when she crashed into his motorbike and killed him.

She served the minimum non-parole period of three years and three months out of the full five year and five month sentence and walked free from jail in July 2018.

Less than six months later in January 2019 Angell was found unconscious in a running car in Caringbah with $15,000 of methylamphetamine in a handbag at her feet.

She was subsequently sentenced to a maximum 18 months’ imprisonment for indictable drug supply.

A State Parole Authority spokeswoman said Angell was granted parole again on April 2 after they were required to consider her application when she completed an additional 12 months behind bars.

“The SPA considered a prerelease report from Community Corrections which recommended (Angell’s) release to parole,” the spokeswoman said.

“The Authority took note that (Angell) had completed all relevant programs addressing her offending in custody, including the Intensive Drug and Alcohol Therapeutic Program and that she had completed individual counselling.”

Angell was also subject to ongoing supervision at Community Corrections’ recommendation.
