A man allegedly had thousands of “upskirting” images on his personal hard drive before he hid a phone inside a shopping basket so he could film up women’s skirts at a Sydney supermarket on Australia Day.
Staff at Woolworths Engadine were alerted after a 56-year-old Engadine man allegedly approached two women and placed his basket on the floor to film under their clothing at 4.30pm on January 26.
The man left the store with his phone after an employee approached him and police were notified.
The man allegedly assaulted a police officer when he was taken to Sutherland police station after a search warrant at a home on Yaralla Pl in Engadine uncovered a hard drive with thousands of “upskirting” images.
The man was charged with two counts of filming a person’s private parts and assaulting police.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on February 21.
