A Sydney man will be trotting off to court after he allegedly honked at two police horses in Australia Day traffic and was then caught using his phone while driving.
Police claim the driver, whose age is not known, honked the police horses in a queue leaving the North Cronulla Beach carpark while mounted police were conducting high visibility patrols.
“Officers allegedly saw the man using his mobile phone whilst driving and prevented him from leaving,” a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
“The man got out of his car and allegedly began to behave in an offensive manner before he was arrested.”
The driver was handcuffed before he was issued a field court attendance notice for traffic offences, offensive conduct and resisting arrest.
The man’s male passenger, who age is also not known, was also issued a field court attendance notice for possessing a knife in a public place.
“It’s alleged during a search of his passenger, police found and seized a knife,” the spokeswoman said.
Both men will appear at Sutherland Local Court at a date yet to be determined.
