Woolooware driver fined for breaching Public Health Act orders

Four people at a barbecue in a public park and a man who drove through a road barrier are the first in the Sutherland Shire to be fined for found breaching coronavirus public health orders.

A man has been fined for allegedly flouting coronavirus public health orders after he allegedly drove through a roadworks barricade in Sydney’s south.

Police say a Greenacre man drove through a road closure barrier at the roundabout at Captain Cook Drive and Gannons Rd in Woolooware at 1.20am.

The man was unable to provide a reasonable excuse for leaving his southwest Sydney home and was subsequently fined $1000.

Earlier in the week three men were fined after police allegedly found them breaching coronavirus social distancing regulations at a popular Sutherland Shire riverside reserve.

Just after midnight on Sunday officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended Lilli Pilli Baths on the Port Hacking River in Lilli Pilli following reports of several people failing to adhere to social distancing regulations.

Police spoke with four men aged 22, 24, 19 and 19 who were allegedly drinking at the reserve and having a barbecue.

Officers reminded them of their requirements under the Public Health Act and asked them to move on.

However. the men allegedly became argumentative and refused to leave.

Three of the men were subsequently issued infringement notices.
