A Sydney woman who killed a young motorcyclist while driving high on ice is back on the wrong side of the law after police found her using a stolen phone just months after she was released from prison.

Taylor Angell, 23, spent three years and three months in jail after she ran down and killed Cronulla lawyer Marc Leabeater, 26, while she was intoxicated at Taren Point during December 2014.

On Monday at Sutherland Local Court Angell pleaded guilty to possessing a stolen iPhone 7S only three months after she was released from prison in October 2018.

Angell will return to court on May 27.

Police know the young Kirrawee woman so well they observed she was acting uncharacteristically quiet when they ran into her near a Caringbah unit block on October 22 last year.

“The accused became vague and withdrawn, and police asked her why she was acting so,” the agreed police facts stated.

“She did not issue an answer at that stage, which is strange given the accused is usually talkative and outgoing.”

Angell will be sentenced on May 27 at Central Local Court via audiovisual link after she returned to custody in January this year.

Angell’s parole was revoked on January 12 when she was charged with dealing an indictable quantity of ice and proceeds of crime after police allegedly found her unconscious in a car in Caringbah with 29.12g of ice and more than $1000 cash in her bag.

Police will allege the ice was worth up to $15,000.

She had previously avoided returning to custody even after police found the stolen phone in her bag in October.

“She stated that the phone was not hers,” police facts stated.

“When asked who it belonged to she said ‘oh I’m on parole, I don’t know, s***’.”

Angell’s parole was due to expire in November 2020.
