Police are investigating whether Jesse McGregor, 21, was badly injured after a ute smashed into the fence of a home on Kingswood Rd in Engadine at 2.30am, several hours before his death at 3.45pm.
However, Mr McGregor was under strict bail conditions confining him to his house between 7.30pm and 5am prior to an appearance scheduled for October 25 at Sutherland Local Court on charges of larceny, destroying or damaging property and entering a vehicle or boat without the owner’s permission.
Police are also investigating whether drugs were a factor in Mr McGregor’s death - though his bail conditions prohibited him from consuming drugs or alcohol.
A 17-year-old boy who was found unconscious at the same home on Collins Pl in Engadine was taken to Sutherland Hospital in a serious condition but has since been released.
Screams could be heard from the street outside the family home as several family members came to the address about 8pm on Tuesday night.
They declined to answer questions about the tragedy.
A woman who said she attended Engadine High School with Mr McGregor posted on Facebook about the incident.
“This is such a shock! Rip Jesse, can’t believe it,” she wrote.
