A woman has been rushed into surgery after she was attacked by a staffy in Cronulla Mall when it reportedly set upon her dog.
NSW Ambulance, police and NSW Fire + Rescue rushed to Cronulla Mall to aid the 72-year-old woman, who suffered “severe hand injuries” in the attack around 11.45am outside Australia Post.
The woman has been taken to Sydney Hand Hospital for specialist surgery.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said the woman’s dog was covered in blood due to its injuries and has since been taken to a local vet.
Two dogs belonging to a male – one of which is understood to be involved in the attack – have been seized by Sutherland Shire Council, who have taken over the investigation.
