A man has been charged with attempted murder after a shocking midnight incident where he allegedly ran another man down on purpose with his 4WD.

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a bizarre confrontation in a suburban Sydney street where he allegedly hit the man’s car and then ran him down.
Kristin Nigel John O’Brien, 50, was charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and reckless driving after he allegedly struck a 46-year-old man’s car outside his home on Flinders Rd, Cronulla before deliberately running him over just after midnight on Sunday.
Police found the alleged victim with injuries to his arms and torso and he was taken to Sutherland Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers commenced an investigation which led them to a Mitsubishi Pajero 4WD at an address on Toronto Pde in Sutherland three hours later.
O’Brien was arrested at the property and charged at Sutherland police station, where he was refused bail to face Parramatta Bail Court the same day.
Police have now charged O’Brien with attempted murder and he faced Sutherland Local Court on Thursday.
His bail application was refused and he will return to the same court on March 9.
