Tory John Frederickson-Angell, 22, has been charged with several serious drugs and weapons offences.

Police say a man allegedly armed with a pistol and knuckle dusters was working as a one-stop shop for a smorgasbord of drugs, including a large commercial quantity of magic mushrooms.

Officers from the Redfern Region Enforcement Squad swooped on Tory-John Frederickson-Angell, 22, in Sutherland on December 12 last year, where he was allegedly pushing MDMA, cocaine, cannabis, the hallucinogenic DMT and psychedelic magic mushrooms in broad daylight while carrying an unauthorised black and grey pistol and knuckle dusters.

Frederickson-Angell was allegedly carrying 500g of magic mushrooms, known scientifically as psilocybin - which is classified as the large commercial quantity for that particular drug.

The Sutherland man was also allegedly found with $12,190 cash, which police will allege was the proceeds of crime, and an undisclosed kind of unauthorised explosives.

Police allege in his bail assessment Frederickson-Angell made full admissions to the drug possession and he was formally refused bail at Sutherland Local Court on December 13.

However, officers were so determined to keep him locked up, they had already sought a preliminary detention application to ensure Frederickson-Angell would be forced to apply for bail in the Supreme Court if he received bail in the local court.

He will return to Sutherland Local Court for further committal on February 25 and his legal representative has subpoenaed Sutherland Hospital to supply his medical records dating back to 2018 at that date.
