A new Sutherland Shire restaurant is cooking up the kind of food your mum would make – with an accessible healthy twist.

Guests don’t have to decode superfood ingredients or dig out the single gluten-free option at The Good Place at Miranda Fair – celebrity chef Scott Gooding has ensured the healthy menu makes sense for every dietary requirement.

“It’s a place I wanted to create that feels non-confrontational for people that want to eat healthy food,” Gooding said.

“You don’t have to sift through the menu and look for the gluten-free or low carb option – it’s entirely gluten free, low sugar, no processed or highly refined oils, it’s just real food that’s accessible.”

The menu includes classic comfort food such as roast chicken, slow cooked lamb and slow cooked beef cheek.

Even the treats have a wholesome bent, with cocktails such as the Young Buck with vodka, lime and ginger kombucha, and desserts such as the raspberry floater with hemp organic raspberry kombucha and house-made choc ice cream.

“There’s not anything you haven’t heard of before,” Gooding said.

“There’s no sense in making food that intimidates people – we want it to be a place where people are relaxed.”

The Miranda venue is the first of its kind created by Gooding and his business partner, who are determinedly flipping fast food culture on its head with a healthy alternative.

“We live in an age of convenience, and people are reaching for a quick and easy solution to health or weight management,” Gooding said.

“We’re not quick, we’re not fast food – we’re just embracing real food.”

Gooding also emphasised the importance of the restaurant’s paddock-to-plate philosophy.

“We’re focused on ethically sourced produce and food providence,” Gooding said.

“We want to get to a place where we know all the farmers on first name terms, we know where the beef and lamb comes from, and we could take the staff to these farms to understand the concept.”
